The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a New York City girl in 1999 has not been solved.
On August 27, 1999, Seeta Beran departed for work early. Deniese Shalize Hiraman, her 13-year-old daughter, typically departs for school at 8:15 a.m. in order to reach the bus stop located at the intersection of Marcos and Jamaica Avenues.
School contacted Seeta at her place of employment that day to notify her of Deniese’s absence. Upon her return home, Seeta discovered that her daughter was missing, and she had not been heard from or seen by anyone in the community.
According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), Deniese’s best friend, who lived in the same building, also disappeared one year after Deniese disappeared.
Deniese, who is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 90 pounds, has scarring on her right forearm. She is of Guyanese heritage and is able to communicate fluently in both English and Guyanese. She has been known to possess fraudulent identification.
Please contact NCMEC at 1-800-843-5678 or the New York City Police Department at 212-473-2042 if you have any information regarding Deniese Hiraman’s disappearance.
