Missing: Bryan “Vladek” Hasel, 22, Alafaya Trail

Timeline and Last known Activities
Bryan “Vladek” Hasel was born on December 20, 1998, and he was 22 years old when he went missing, making him 26 years old as of April 20, 2025. His father last saw Bryan at their home, near Alafaya Trail and MacKay Boulevard, near the University of Central Florida campus. This was November 5, 2021. His father departed on a ten-day trip, leaving Bryan with $100 in cash and a credit card. This is due to Bryan’s decision to stay at home. Upon returning to the apartment on November 15, 2021, the father found everything in place with food and drink still intact. A package delivered on November 8 was also unopened, suggesting Bryan had not been there
Key sightings include:
November 6, 2021: CCTV and body-camera footage captured Bryan at Foxtail Coffee Co. on University Boulevard in Orlando, FL. According to reports, he visited the location on November 4, where he brandished a knife, which made customers feel uneasy. His actions resulted in a police call and a permanent ban on November 6. He exited the location serenely while heading west to the Wawa convenience store.
November 12, 2021: The maintenance worker who encountered Bryan near The Place at Alafaya apartment complex basketball court reported a brief conversation, but his claim remains unverified.
On November 15, 2021, he reportedly declared his intention to “live off-grid” at another resident’s apartment within the complex.
Bryan has vanished without a trace, his flip phone is inactive, and he doesn’t have a smartphone or tablet due to its breakage or discarding.
Physical Description and Background
Bryan is 5’8″ and weighs 220 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. Vladek, who uses the nickname Vlad, and his sister became American citizens through adoption when they were five years old in Russia in 2004. His military service in the U.S. Marines might explain why his family suspects he visited Dallas, as he had connections with Marine Corps friends there. His medical records documented his depression history. He dedicated much of his time to religious activities at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He prayed and read the Bible while helping homeless people.
Family and Community Efforts
Bethany Hasel asserts that someone knows Bryan’s fate. Irena Hasel, who highlights his exceptional kindness and describes him as someone who possesses “the heart of gold.” Key efforts include:
January 2024: Bethany handed out 300 flyers at the Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX) at the Orange County Convention Center. These flyers reached 27,000 people, as they needed a national campaign to confirm whether he was still in Florida.
November 16, 2024: Nicole Schmidt and other supporters attended a candlelight vigil on UCF campus to raise awareness for Gabby Petito. The family distributed flyers, bracelets, and additional materials.
Authorities’ involvement
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office continues its active investigation by releasing statements that request tips from the public through the numbers (407) 254-7000 or, after 5 PM, at (407) 836-4357 for case number 210-838-64. The agency documented both Bryan’s last confirmed appearance and subsequent unconfirmed reports while stressing public involvement. The Missing Persons Center has classified him as “Unknown Missing” and requests assistance in the case while directing people to call 911.
Current Status and Speculations
The Charley Project last updated Bryan’s file as “Endangered and Missing” on January 10, 2024. Since that time, he has remained missing without any confirmed sightings or leads between November 2021 and April 2025. Family members suspect he may be living in the Dallas area because of Marine Corps ties. This assumption appears in reports from November 2023, but it remains an unfounded speculation lacking proof.
