Karen Beard, 35, disappeared on 16 January 1991, after dropping off her daughters at her ex-in-laws’ home in Kingston, Tennessee.

She was supposed to work the next day at a restaurant in Lenoir City but never showed up. Karen’s lawyer reported her missing on 23 January, and police discovered her apartment unoccupied with all her belongings.

They found her car near the Clinch River, near her ex-in-laws’ house. Karen was locked in a custody battle with her former husband, Reece Beard.

Karen had been a drug user herself but stayed clean enough to get custody of her children.
