Darrel Ray Johnson Sr., 67, a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, was last seen by his son on June 27, 2024, as he left home with a friend to travel to New Mexico.

They were having a birthday party at Conchas Lake State Park.

On 29 June 2024, witnesses saw Darrel at 12:30 am while he headed to a nearby campsite to borrow a flashlight. Once he got the torch, he disappeared into the woods.
